What happened to the month of July?
Poof.
It's gone. I'm seeing back to school ads on my TV. Speaking of which, I'm going back to school. I applied for and I was accepted into Simon Fraser University's The Writer's Studio. This a 10 to 11 month part-time, on-line course. I've had this course on my mind since I interviewed author Stella Harvey, who was the creative director of the Whistler Writer's Festival. Stella has since retired as the director, and she's working on her next novel. Our podcast can be found at this link. Stella encouraged me to apply. I had to submit a CV, a statement of intent and two writing samples. All six mentors had to agree on my acceptance.  At the end of the program, I will receive a Creative Writing Certificate and during the program I work with mentor/author, Eileen Cook.

JCVArtStudio from Vancouver Island will be taking a three week break in August. My last podcast will drop on August 13, with my interview of publicist Mickey Mikkelson from Creative Edge Publicity.

I also had signed up for 4 market days in Chemainus. That was an incredible experience. I thought I would sell more art cards, instead I sold 10 to 12 books. I met amazing readers and gained podcast subscribers. I had a summer giveaway at the market for the individuals who signed up for the newsletter. The winner of that giveaway was Sharon G. The bag and books have been delivered to Sharon. Writing is a solitary venture, I can't stress how enjoyable it was talking to people and finding out what people like reading. Another marketer also gave me a story idea for Spy Girl, the third Jade & Sage thriller that I'm working on. Thank you to Lanyos Handmade for the the bag.

Have a safe August everyone. I hope you enjoy the articles featured below. I'll chat with you again in September.

Cheers.

I'll be sharing short video interviews I had the pleasure of doing for Sinc-CW. The Sisters in Crime - Canada West is an amazing writing organization. Every Friday, I'll share the video interviews on my Facebook page. The first interview was with author, Lis Angus

I was fortunate to be interviewed by cozy mystery author, Diane Bator, for her blog, Escape with a Writer. The article can be found at this link. I have also included the link to Diane's webpage DianeBator.
